Sounded so good, really cut through on the radio – very cool

Chris Hawkins, BBC Radio 6 Music

An incredible fusion of exhilarating and tranquil sounds

Right Chord Music

Infectious and immersive songs that walk on the fine line between intoxicating hazy dream-pop ambiance and 90s shoegaze-infused guitar distortion, subtly underlying by modern guitar-pop energy and enriched by alluring reverb-drenched ethereal female vocals

WhiteLight/WhiteHeat

Engaging dream pop with the guitars echoing back and forth whilst the female vocals compete against the wake of reverb left by said guitars. Lyrically strong too. Impressive to say the least.

the long story

Dreamcoaster was created by Andrew and Jane Craig in 2018 when they started writing and releasing a string of well-received singles from their home near Brighton, England.

Debut single “Drive on” was the first release from the pair since they played in 90s artpop outfit Luminous, who were notably produced by Shimmy Disc maestro Kramer.

Still wildly in love with the guitar sounds of late 80s indie, the duo established their melodic dreampop and shimmering shoegaze guitar sound. Andrew creating the layered guitar sounds and Jane’s warm vocals drenched in reverb.

They quickly caught the attention of blogs, podcast and radio, including BBC Radio 6 Music, a string of US college radio shows and shoegaze guardians DKFM.

They’ve now released two studio albums on their Duck Race Recording Co. label. “Nothing’s Ever Finished”, released in Sept 2019 and “Encapsulation” released in November 2020.

In January 2022 they released a new EP on the Spinout Nuggets label, home of fellow Brightonians Jetstream Pony. The 3-track Dreamcoaster EP is the band's first outing on vinyl.
Live, they played a packed acoustic in-store at HMV Brighton just before Covid struck followed by a string of well-received online gigs during lockdown. They ended 2021 supporting The Popguns in Brighton and will be playing throughout 2022.

Dreamcoaster scale up to a 4-piece for their live outings, onboarding Ian Moss (drums) and partner Becky Allen (bass and vocals).

Originally called Dreams of Empire, they changed name to Dreamcoaster in 2021 after getting concerned about unintentional association with the negative context of the word "empire".
